Frequently asked questions pertaining to purchasing a subscription to the Accessible Archives Search and Information Server:

1. What does my annual subscription fee include?

Academic institutions and public libraries that subscribe to the database receive access to all of the Accessible Archives collections including any new content that is added throughout the term of their subscription. Institutions are charged a set rate based on their FTE.

A subscription to the entire Accessible Archives online database includes complete access to over 350 million fully searchable words from a variety of full-text newspaper databases including:

African-American Newspapers of the Nineteenth-Century, Parts I-XII and XII Supplement.  Godey's Ladies Book, Part I ( 1830-1845), Part II (1846-1855), Part III (1856-1865), Part IV (1866-1875), Part V (1876-1880), Part VI (1881-1885), Part VII (1886-1890, Part VIII (1892, 1893 and 1896) and Part IX (1890-1898).  The Pennsylvania Gazette, 1728-1800. The Civil War: A Newspaper Perspective 1860-1865. Pennsylvania Newspaper Record: Delaware County 1819-1870. The Pennsylvania Genealogical Catalog: Chester County 1809-1870.  American County Histories to 1900: all 21 counties in New Jersey; all three counties in Delaware; Pennsylvania, Parts I-IV; New York, Parts I-IV.  The Liberator (Parts I-VII) which covers the years 1831-1865. The South Carolina Gazette (Parts I - VII) covering the years 1732-1780.

2. What is the procedure for renewing my subscription?

Your subscription will automatically be renewed unless notified at least 30 days prior to its end date.

3. What about a license agreement?

The license agreement for subscriptions is available on-site. This license agreement has been designed to take into consideration the needs of both academic and public libraries. Questions about the license agreement should be directed to our sales department at 866-296-1488.

4. Can we subscribe to individual newspapers from the database?

No. Subscription fees include access to ALL of our databases and they cannot be subscribed to individually.
